Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Sound Booster (“we”, “us”, or “our”) handles information when you use:
- Our website and browser-based audio/video tools (the “Website”); and
- The Sound Booster – Increase Volume extension for Google Chrome available on the Chrome Web Store (the “Extension”).
We designed Sound Booster so that your media stays under your control. Please read this policy carefully.
1. Who we are
Sound Booster provides tools to increase, normalize, and work with audio and video volume in the browser, plus a Chrome extension that can boost the volume of media playing in browser tabs.
If you have questions about this policy, contact us at: [email protected].
2. Core principle: your files stay on your device
For the Website tools (volume boost, normalize, video boost, demo playback, and related features):
- Audio and video files you select are processed locally in your browser using Web technologies (such as the Web Audio API).
- We do not upload your media files to our servers for processing.
- Optional “Your Library” items are stored in your browser’s local storage (IndexedDB) on your device only. Clearing site data removes them.
- Exported/downloaded results are created on your device and saved where you choose.
For the Chrome Extension, volume adjustments apply to media already playing in your browser. The Extension is not designed to send the content of those media streams to our servers.
3. Information we may collect
Depending on how you use Sound Booster, we may process limited information such as:
- Technical and usage data — for example approximate region, browser type, device type, pages or features used, and basic error or performance logs — if we enable analytics or hosting logs (e.g. via Cloudflare Pages or similar).
- Extension-related data — settings you choose in the Extension (such as boost level) are typically stored locally in the browser. We do not use the Extension to read the content of your personal files on disk outside the browser context required for its stated function.
- Communications — if you email us, we receive the content of that message and your email address in order to respond.
We do not require an account to use the core Website tools or the Extension.
4. What we do not do
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not use your uploaded media to train AI models.
- We do not claim ownership of the audio or video you process.
5. Cookies, local storage, and analytics
The Website may use essential cookies or local storage needed for the product to work (for example remembering UI preferences or library entries).
We also use analytics on the Website:
- Google Analytics — may collect information such as pages visited, approximate location, device and browser type, referral source, and interaction events. Google processes this data under its own terms and privacy policy. You can limit some collection through browser settings, Google’s opt-out tools, or similar controls where available.
- Cloudflare Analytics — may include aggregated traffic, request counts, and performance metrics related to hosting and delivering the Website through Cloudflare’s network.
Analytics help us understand usage and improve the product. They are not used to upload or analyze the contents of the audio or video files you process in the browser tools. Where required by law, we will support additional notice or consent for non-essential analytics cookies.
6. Third-party services
We may rely on third parties to host or deliver the product, for example:
- Hosting / CDN (such as Cloudflare) to serve the Website;
- Google Fonts or similar for typography;
- Google Chrome Web Store for distribution of the Extension (subject to Google’s own terms and privacy policy);
- Optional client-side libraries loaded from CDNs (for example tools used only when you export certain video formats).
These providers process data under their own policies. Demo media bundled with the Website is provided only for testing the product.
7. Chrome Extension permissions
The Extension may request browser permissions necessary to adjust playback volume on pages you visit and to store your preferences. We use permissions only for the features described on the Chrome Web Store listing. You can remove the Extension at any time from chrome://extensions.
8. Children’s privacy
Sound Booster is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. Data retention
Media you process is not retained on our servers because it is not uploaded for processing. Local library items remain until you delete them or clear browser data. Support emails are kept only as long as needed to handle your request and for legitimate business records.
10. International users
If you access Sound Booster from outside the country where our hosting is located, your technical data may be processed in other regions by our providers. Where required by law, we take appropriate steps to protect such transfers.
11. Your choices
- Stop using the Website or uninstall the Extension at any time.
- Clear site data / IndexedDB in your browser to remove local library files.
- Contact us to ask questions about this policy.
12. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the Website or Extension after changes means you accept the updated policy, where permitted by law.
